About Paul Helmore

Paul Helmore recently retired from Wood MacKenzie, a global research and consultancy group serving the energy, chemicals, renewables, metals, and mining industries.

Paul served in the Royal Navy on various warships for eight years before beginning a career in professional sales. He focused in the energy sector for much of his career, supporting complex commercial engagements in information management, consulting services, data, and software products. He has built and managed sales and marketing organizations of various sizes across diverse geographies, including Europe, Africa, Russia, North and South America, Asia and the Middle East. This experience provided Paul with a deep understanding and respect for cultural and regional differences while cultivating success.

Paul worked for Schlumberger for 21 years, advancing through the leadership ranks as a director, vice president and senior vice president. His roles there included global account management, operations management, product and technical marketing, and training and development.

Paul retains a passionate interest in the oceans and marine technology. After leaving Schlumberger he was chief revenue officer at Ocean Infinity, helping that firm develop and deploy the world’s leading AUV fleets to conduct searches, surveys and research operations. For the past three years Paul was executive vice president of sales at Wood MacKenzie, and a core member of the senior executive team that successfully sold the company to a major private equity firm in Feb 2023.
