Sales Management Association offers professional certification for leaders in sales management and sales force effectiveness.

Our certifications make use of Sales Management Association’s on demand learning content, instructor-led workshops and coursework, peer-based working sessions, and participation in conferences and online webcasts.

Participants select learning paths that fit their own career paths, learning objectives, and experience level.

Certified Sales Management Professional (CSMP)

Ideal for

  • Mid to senior level sales managers and directors of sales with responsibility for managing salespeople.
  • New or aspiring sales managers (with prerequisites) interested in in gaining foundational sales management competency.

Learning path

  • Eight or more on-demand course modules (about four hours).
  • Two or more instructor-led workshops (six to eight hours).
  • Maintain certified status each year through participation in continuing ed-eligible peer-based working sessions, live or on demand webcasts, or additional on-demand elective course modules.

Certified Sales Operations Professional (CSOP)

  • Mid to senior level leaders in sales effectiveness, sales operations, and revenue operations.
  • New or aspiring managers in sales effectiveness, sales operations, and revenue operations (with prerequisites).

Learning path

  • Ten or more on-demand course modules (about five hours).
  • Three or more instructor-led workshops ((nine to 12 hours).
  • Maintain certified status each year through participation in continuing ed-eligible peer-based working sessions, live or on demand webcasts, or additional on-demand elective course modules.

Executive Sales Force Leader —- Master Certification

  • Senior sales leaders with sales management responsibility and/or experience managing sales managers.
  • Mid-level sales managers aspiring to larger leadership roles in the sales organization.

  • A specialized course of study customized for individualized learning objectives.
  • A project based capstone initiative.
  • Participation as a thought leader and mentor in the SMA community.
  • Prior CSMP certification is suggested but may be waived based on professional experience.

Sales Force Effectiveness Leader Master Certification

Gain deep expertise with instructor led workshops

Our instructor led workshops are structured for four-to six hour working sessions with small class sizes. Workshops may be delivered in-person or online by SMA staff or endorsed third-party instructors.

Learners may complete most on-demand and workshop requirements in any sequence. However, some workshops specify prerequisite on demand course completion prior to attending. On demand courses are free for members at the corporate, individual, and associate level. Workshops are free to attend for corporate members, and discounted for individual and associate members.
